Proposal Al Saraceno Taormina – When It Rains, You Go Inside
Not every proposal in Taormina happens under a perfect sky. Sometimes it rains. And when it does, Al Saraceno is one of the few places in town where the weather becomes part of the picture — not a problem to solve.
Floor-to-ceiling windows. Etna on the horizon. The Bay of Naxos to the left. Rain on the glass catching the light. And inside, a table covered in the most extraordinary bouquet you've ever seen.
Timothy flew in from Hong Kong with a plan, an Montresor Infini ring, and flowers ordered from Petali & Capricci Flower Artist — an explosion of red roses, orange celosias, peach carnations, purple lisianthus and sunflowers that took up half the table. Velda had no idea.

What Proposal Al Saraceno Offers
Al Saraceno sits high above Taormina with one of the widest panoramic views in town — the Bay of Naxos, Mount Etna, the rooftops of the old city below. On a clear day it's stunning. On a rainy day, with clouds moving fast across the mountain and light breaking through in unexpected ways, it's something else entirely.
The restaurant works with couples planning proposals. A semi-private table can be arranged, and the team knows how to stay out of the way when it matters. The flowers, the ring, the photographer — those are your responsibility. The view is theirs.
For the flowers, we work regularly with Petali e Capricci Flower Artist — the florist behind Timothy's arrangement. If you want something at that level, we can connect you directly.

Timothy & Velda – Hong Kong to Taormina for amazing proposal al saraceno
They'd been travelling through Sicily for a week. Velda thought Taormina was just another stop.
Timothy had been carrying the Montresor Infini ring since Hong Kong. He'd coordinated the flowers with Capricci Flower Artist from the other side of the world — a massive seasonal arrangement in warm reds, oranges and peaches that arrived at the restaurant before they did. We were already inside when they walked in.

Velda saw the flowers first. Then the look on Timothy's face. Then he was on one knee.
Outside, it was pouring. Inside, Etna filled the window behind them, half-wrapped in cloud. The light was extraordinary — the kind you can't plan and can't replicate.

After the yes, we moved outside. The rain had softened to a drizzle. They walked with umbrellas along the road above town, Etna behind them, laughing in the wet air. Some of the best shots of the day happened in those twenty minutes.

FAQ – Proposal Al Saraceno Taormina
Is Al Saraceno a good option if the weather might be bad?
It's one of the best. The panoramic windows mean you keep the view of Etna and the bay regardless of the weather. Rain on the glass actually adds atmosphere. It's one of the few spots in Taormina where a grey sky works in your favour.
Can we book a private table for the proposal?
Yes. The restaurant can arrange a specific table — ideally window-facing — for your proposal. We recommend contacting them directly once you have a date, and letting us coordinate the timing with the photography.
Do you work with a florist for this type of setup?
Yes. The arrangement in these photos was created by Petali e Capricci Flower Artist, a local florist we work with regularly for proposal setups. If you want something at a similar level — or completely different — we can connect you and manage the coordination.
What happens if it's sunny — is Al Saraceno still a good choice?
Absolutely. The view of Etna and the Bay of Naxos on a clear day is exceptional. The restaurant has an outdoor terrace as well, which opens up more options for the proposal itself and the portraits after.
Can you manage everything — florist, restaurant, photography — from abroad?
Yes. We offer full coordination for couples planning from Hong Kong, Australia, the UK or anywhere else. You tell us what you're imagining, we build the plan, handle the vendors, and brief the restaurant. You arrive and live the moment.
What's the best time of year for a proposal at Al Saraceno?
Spring and autumn give you the most dramatic light and the least crowds. Summer is beautiful but busier. And as Timothy and Velda proved — even a rainy day in Taormina has its own kind of magic.
